Our Story

Created by patent attorney Peter D. Keefe in 2000, the mission of PatentApplication.com has always been focused on the success of aspiring inventors and entrepreneurs.

In 1986, before the days of the internet, Peter created the Inventors Association of Metropolitan Detroit (IAMD) to serve as outreach to independent inventors who desperately needed a reliable and zero cost source of patent information (members paid small monthly dues).

After serving with IAMD for a decade as president, meeting chairman and newsletter publisher, the internet made its appearance. Recognizing the power of information exchange that the internet promised for the near future, Peter decided it was time to move on. He meticulously prepared the IAMD for his departure, which happened in 1999 under the capable hands of new IAMD president Frank Wales. The IAMD remains active to this day.

Peter registered the URL “PatentApplication.com” in the mid-1990s. Using Microsoft FrontPage, Peter camped out one weekend in his law office to create and upload the first version of PatentApplication.com.

An outlet of his patent law practice, Keefe and Associates, PatentApplication.com augmented Peter’s law practice with free “how to” information that no doubt has helped many thousands.

Going through website growing pains as a result of patent law revolutions and software/computer transformations, PatentApplication.com has remained a dependable fixture of the internet ever since.

The current version of PatentApplication.com remains true to the original mission and will continue to do so for years to come.
